For about a month now, I’ve been the proud new owner of a Ladies Electra Ticino 20D in Pearl Rose. I can honestly say that in this time I have grown to love my bike more and more each day.
Modelled after the vintage European touring bikes of the 40’s and 50’s, the Electra Bicycle Company has designed a bike that is light, fast, comfortable and quite frankly Gorgeous!
This bike now replaces both my cruiser and my hybrid bike! It’s essentially an upright riding position, but just forward enough to provide a speed oriented edge. I can see how they used to ride this style of bikes through the Alps. It’s so light that I hardly even need gears. The handle bars curve back towards me in a way that I find very comfortable for my wrists and makes it super easy to stand up when I need a little extra oomph. And of course, it’s got a lot of eye candy appeal. Just what a Red-head like me needs in a city-touring bike!
After seeing my lovely Electra Ticino, Diane Bald of Roots Canada was inspired by the look, and thrilled with the ride. Here she is with her new Electra Ticino 16D for Ladies.

Choosing a basket for your bike is a bit like picking out a new belt for a sweater. The best way to do it is to take the time to hold the basket up to your bike a see how it looks! Just as in fashion your basket doesn’t have to match exactly, but it should “go” with the look. We’ve got a great selection of Wicker, wire or mesh baskets to choose from including the sturdy new Nantucket Bike Baskets. Unlike other wicker strap baskets, the Nantucket baskets are really strong with leather straps that hold up. Just remember when using a front basket that you should keep the load to under 10 lbs. Otherwise, you won’t have adequate control of your handlebars!
